Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium at Our Lady of the Rosary
At Our Lady of the Rosary, we want every child to feel supported, valued, and equipped to succeed. Pupil Premium funding plays an important role in helping us ensure that children who may face disadvantage have access to the same high-quality learning, opportunities, and experiences as their peers. It allows us to strengthen provision in ways that make a positive, sustained difference to children’s education and wellbeing.
Eligibility for Free School Meals and Pupil Premium FundingAll children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are automatically entitled to Universal Infant Free School Meals. From Year 3 onwards, children may be eligible for benefit-related Free School Meals if their parents or carers receive one or more qualifying benefits.
If you think your child may be eligible, please contact the school office and we will be happy to support you with the application.
Schools receive Pupil Premium funding for every child who is registered as eligible for benefit-related Free School Meals. This funding is not allocated to individual pupils; instead, it is provided to the school so that leaders can plan support that improves educational outcomes for disadvantaged pupils.
Our Vision for Pupils in Receipt of Pupil PremiumWe want our children to:
-
feel proud of their achievements
-
experience a rich and ambitious curriculum
-
develop the confidence to take part in new opportunities
-
see themselves as capable, successful learners
-
build aspirations for their education and beyond
Everything we plan is designed to strengthen these long-term outcomes.
How We Use the FundingOur work is shaped by educational research, particularly the evidence published by the Education Endowment Foundation. This helps us understand which approaches have the strongest impact and ensures that our decisions are thoughtful, purposeful, and grounded in what works.
The funding is used to enhance three key areas of school life:
High-quality teachingWe invest in approaches that make everyday classroom learning the strongest it can be, because excellent teaching benefits every child and makes the biggest difference over time. Staff development, high-quality resources, and a well-planned curriculum are central to this.
Targeted supportSome children need additional teaching to help them keep pace or to accelerate their progress. We provide carefully planned small-group and one-to-one support led by trained staff who know the children well. These sessions are reviewed regularly so that support remains closely matched to individual needs.
Wider support and enrichmentWe know that confidence, wellbeing, and opportunity play a significant part in a child’s readiness to learn. We therefore use funding to ensure that children can take part fully in school life, whether through emotional support, participation in clubs, enrichment experiences, or help with the practicalities that can sometimes be a barrier for families.
Raising AspirationsAspirations sit at the heart of our Pupil Premium work. We want children to believe in what they can achieve and to see a future full of possibility. This means giving them experiences that broaden their horizons, celebrating their successes, helping them build resilience, and making sure they have opportunities to shine academically, socially, and creatively.
Our aim is that Pupil Premium pupils leave Our Lady of the Rosary with a deep sense of their own potential and the knowledge that their contributions matter.
How We Monitor Our WorkWe regularly review the impact of the support we offer. Assessment information, teacher insight, pupil voice, and family feedback help us understand what is working well and where further adjustments are needed. This ongoing reflection ensures that the funding continues to make a meaningful difference for the children it is intended for.
